On April 11th in the Sassuolo industrial area, Confindustria hosted the LIFE Platform Meeting entitled “L’esperienza dei progetti life per la sostenibilità ambientale dell’industria ceramica e dei laterizi”. The event sees the collaboration between Confindustria Ceramica e Laterizi (General Confederation of Italian Industry, ceramics and bricks division), the Italian Ministry of Environment and the Committee of the EU LIFE Environment Program with the purpose of offering an overview on European projects about green innovation in ceramics and building materials. The talks showed several examples of new products and processes that, , allow to considerably reduce CO2 outputs by tweaking the ceramic tile production chain. In this context the ECOTILES project displayed the advantages of using granulate and cement based tiles in green building, with the added value of using recycled material for production. At the end of the meeting, the roundtable confirmed the advantages for tile companies in participating to EU founded projects and the necessity of collaborating with universities and advanced research centers.
