From the 11th to 15th of September the group of Geochemistry-Petrology-Mineralogy was present at the Second European Congress of mineralogy (EMC2016) organized in the beautiful town of Rimini. The conference, every four years, aims to showcase the state-of-the-art of mineralogical sciences, promoting exchange of the most recent researches between the European non-European countries. For five days several thematic sessions displayed the advances in the mineralogical and petrographic research field. ECOTILES was present in the session S21. “Mineralogy, geochemistry and valorization of Industrial and mining wastes”. During the talk, the project supervisor Eleonora Paris showed for the first time to an audience of researchers the purpose and the first results of the ECOTILES project stressing the importance of recycling glass material for the production building materials. A significant part of the talk was focused on the characterization and classification of the waste glass analyzed carried on at the University of Camerino. Thanks to this initiative we had the opportunity to confront and exchange precious ideas with other research groups involved in LIFE projects or interested in waste recycling.
