LIFE ECOTILES participated to the 1st International Sustainable Stone conference that took place in Carrara on the 20 May 2016, in the frame of the International Fair of Marble of Carrara (18-21 May). The conference had the goal to give a complete overview of the research on the sustainability topic at international level, giving a particular focus on the different green building sustainability rating tools (e.g. LEED).The conference was organized in three parallel sessions:
Environmental Sustainability on recovery and recycling waste, environmental impact assessment systems (Life Cycle Assessment) and management systems;
Planning and Socio-economic Sustainability on international practices for the assessment of social impact, business networks and innovation;
Sustainable Architecture and Ecodesign with Natural Stone on Sustainable design and creative recycling. The conference gave us the opportunity to get more familiarity , in particular, with the topic of the first session on Environmental Sustaiability, which are of great interest for our project ECOTILES.
